Not a ton of movement at the top relative to last week's edition, which either speaks to the quality of last week's schedule or the possibility that we're starting to see a more defined pecking order.
Once again, I rank based on achievement, so this doesn't necessarily reflect an ordering of team strength.
Blatant Homerism Top 25: Week 5
7. Washington State
8. Penn State
9. San Diego State
13. Central Florida
16. South Florida
19. Notre Dame
20. Texas-San Antonio
21. Texas A&M
24. Texas Tech
25. North Carolina State
*Clemson solidified its resume in cruising past Virginia Tech. Even so, I'd be careful putting too much faith in the Tigers at this point. The offense isn't national championship caliber.
*Georgia gets a bump because Notre Dame continues to play well. A win in South Bend is worth a lot at this point.
To be fair, methodically dismantling Tennessee worked in the Bulldogs' favor as well.
*I'm likely giving Michigan too much credit here for what it has accomplished so far.
*Texas A&M got hammered by the pollsters for gagging against UCLA. That said, the Aggies deserve their props for handling Arkansas and South Carolina. I doubt we'll look at them the same way next week after Alabama comes to town.
*Other games of interest for ranking purposes this upcoming weekend: West Virginia at Texas Christian, Michigan State at Michigan, Wazzu at Oregon.
