Not even going to mention that BH went 5-0 last week. Not one word.
In fact, let's just move on to this week's picks.
BLATANT HOMERISM--Week 5
(Last Week: 5-0; Overall: 12-8)
Georgia at Tennessee (+7.5)
Butch Jones is a bozo. Fine.
Now that’s out of the way, I do love this situation for his team. The Bulldogs have had their behinds smooched all week after dismantling an overrated Mississippi State team between the hedges last week. Meanwhile, the Volunteers have been dog-cussed for two weeks.
The pick: Take the points.
Miami (-6) at Duke
I wish I had an explanation for why Duke keeps showing up here. I don’t like it any more than you do.
What I do love is how Miami took it to Toledo in the second half of their game last week. Once The U knocked the rust off, all was well.
The pick: Hurricanes by at least 10.
Clemson at Virginia Tech (+8)
Little-discussed truth: The Clemson offense is kinda meh. The Tigers are rightfully considered to be among the best teams in the country, but this team is fueled by its nasty-ass defense. Against the two best defenses CU has seen this year, Auburn and Boston College, the O has had a tough time getting going.
I'll bank on Bud Foster to come up with a scheme to fluster Kelly Bryant and keep the Hokies within striking range.
The pick: Clemson by not enough, if at all.
Baylor (+17) at Kansas State
This feels a little obvious after the way the Bears hung with Oklahoma last week. Still, the chances of K-State beating anyone by more than 17 points right now seem slim.
The pick: KSU by less than 10.
Mississippi State at Auburn (-9)
You could look at this number two ways. One: It's an overreaction to the beating inflicted on MSU by Georgia a week ago. Two: The Bulldogs really aren't as good as we thought.
I'll side with the latter. Dan Mullen's team got a ton of credit for beating what we're starting to see as one of the worst LSU teams in recent memory. Getting kicked by UGA showed us State's true colors.
Meanwhile, Jarrett Stidham and AU's offense appear to be settling in.
The pick: Give the nine.
THE SKINNY--Week 5
(Last Week: 3-2; Overall: 9-11)
Northwestern at Wisconsin (-15)
Indiana (+18.5) at Penn State
Oklahoma State (-10) at Texas Tech
Navy at Tulsa (+8.5)
Colorado (+7.5) at UCLA
