The Chicago Sun-Times reported this morning that until Bob Stoops said "no" to Notre Dame, he would remain the school's top choice.
That wish has been granted, as Stoops issued his third statement in a week on his job status. It concludes thusly: "I will not be the next coach at Notre Dame."
Ironically, Stoops' reasons for being so coy with how he worded his statements regarding his job status were intended to help the Irish save face during the search process, according to Dave Sittler of the Tulsa World.
Looks like Irish Nation couldn't avoid that, even with Stoops' help.
